Comments:
Thunderstorms formed along the higher terrain north of the valley during the early afternoon hours as a result of a developing low pressure system to our east. With a northerly flow across the region, these storms were able to move off the higher terrain and into the valley. As they moved into the valley, new cells developed, resulting in strong gusty winds, light to moderate rainfall and occasional lightning throughout the area.

Light rainfall began at our location around 3:16pm, with the first 0.01in. occurring at 3:30pm. A brief period of moderate rainfall occurred for about two minutes resulting in an overall storm total of 0.02in., bringing the monthly rain total to 0.04in..

Below are rain totals reported to us by the public. Weather Bus.com thanks you for your reports!

The main issue with these storms was strong gusty winds. A peak wind gust of 42mph from the NE was recorded at our location at 3:17pm. These strong winds produced blowing dust reducing visibility in locations south of the valley.
