July 26th: Severe Storms In Gilbert

On July 26th, a severe thunderstorm, with microburst winds in excess of 60mph, occurred in the southern portion of Gilbert, resulting in numerous power lines and trees being blown over. Power poles and trees were reported down at Chandler Heights and Greenfield Road, Ocotillo and Higley Road and Ocotillo and Power Road. The peak wind speed indicated by Doppler Radar using the Base Velocity (0.6°) scan was 57.3knots (65.9mph), occurring at 6:24pm (MST).
